Hello, I am Lucia
I’m a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Madrid, Spain.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term contract gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn’t on the long-range plan. As with many expatriate transitions, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The early weeks were demanding — unfamiliar processes, new habits, rising expectations. Everyday chores seemed more complex than they should.
The Adjustment Period
We faced culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began crafting something that felt secure.
Why I Built Calm Harbor Journal
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation tips or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice grounded in real life in Spain.
What This Site Represents (And Excludes)
This site IS:
- Practical insights from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly shifts
This site ISN'T:
- A resource for tourism authorities
- A sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Spain goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue to document what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, feel free to contact me.
Best regards,
Lucia
